Melissa Minor- Brown (Mimi) possesses the passion necessary to advocate and empower her community.
Mimi answered her calling to serve over a decade ago. Mimi Graduated Cum Laude of her class, in both the Practical Nursing and a Registered Nurse degree program at Delaware Technical and Community College (DTCC). With a desire to serve first, those who serve us, she launched her nursing career at the Department of Veterans Affairs VA Hospital in Elsmere Delaware.
A transformational leader, Melissa went on to achieve both her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing Science Executive Leadership at Wilmington University. After 7 years of service at the VA Hospital, Melissa turned her attention to where the need was greatest, the community. Taking on responsibilities working with Assertive Community Treatment Teams, before reaching down to serve the less fortunate as a state-wide nursing educator for the Department of Corrections.
Professional, devoted wife and mother of a teenager daughter and a preschooler, Melissa remains committed to her community of New Castle Delaware.
Not to go unnoticed for her service to others, Melissa was recently recognized as a Delaware Top Nurse Honorable Mention in the May 2018 issue of Delaware Today Magazine.
Mimi serves as a member of Delaware Medical Reserve Corps, educating her community on healthcare management, working closely with local schools to host “Stop the Bleed” Trainings for staff, a national awareness campaign to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to pitch in and help in emergency situations.
Ethical morals and values have always defined this local talent. Running for State Representative is A natural extension of her mission and dedication to expand middle class opportunities and support for working families. People who support Melissa, support kitchen table issues like a living wage, a quality education, affordable health care, housing, and a clean, safe environment for all.
